EXD has teamed up with Portugal’s leading integrated oil and natural gas group, Galp Energia, for an International Architecture Competition for a Cycling and Pedestrian Bridge in Lisbon.

As one of Portugal’s leading energy companies, Galp Energia has a fervent social responsibility – one that is taken very seriously. Due to a shared vision for building a legacy of sustainability in Lisbon and Portugal, EXD and Galp Energia are collaborating on this landmark project for the city. The bridge will facilitate access over a main motorway for cyclists and pedestrians, making Lisbon more environmentally friendly.

The competition is open to architects and architecture firms worldwide. The winning work and jury shortlist will be exhibited during EXD’09 Lisboa as part of the Lounging Space programme.

Competition details will be available from 27 July 2009
